Puzzles?!? Ve Don't Need No Stinkin' Puzzles

Following the passage deeper into the temple, the party ran into a strange arch spanning the corridor. The stone gargoyles with burning green eyes would have screamed trap had the paladin not thrown a loose pebble through the arch unharmed.

Following the fire blast that erupted when the party themselves passed through the arch, sounds of a fight drew the party to a caved in section of the tunnel.  In short order, they came upon a battle between a dwarf and human holding out against a gaggle of undead erupting from the sewers.

The zombies, lead by one newly undead corpse waving a soggy book in one hand, pressed the party to the limit, almost killing the poor dwarven shaman, before the party could turn the tide and dispatch the monsters.

After licking their wounds, the party plus two new members, eventually made their way to the main altar room of the temple. While most of the party labored over some fracked up puzzle of jumbled letters, the wizard used his spectral hand spell for something more than his own jollies and worked the lever controlling the portcullis which blocked the entrance to the altar.

Knowing they would have to battle the metal statutes surrounding the altar, the party was still surprised when the altar itself rose up to join the fight. After some back and forth action that Krond the dwarf watched mostly from his back and after the paladin spent some time airborne, the party destroyed the last of the statutes. Battle done, the party claimed the golden crown left upon the podium, found the second part of the book containing the clues into the poison which may have killed the king, and made their way back above ground to their favorite inn for some much needed rest.

Arriving at the inn, the party found a gift waiting on their table, delivered by some unknown courier. Within the exquisitely golden box, the party found the severed head of Alicia Polian, the young child from Mirror Stone.

3 Encounters from that session, putting the party at 5 out of 10 to level 6.
