After saving the lady dwarf from the clutches of the evil wizard, the party escorted her back to her delighted great-grandfather in Mirror Stone.
After re-gearing in the village, the party followed the Harrow River south heading towards the city of Upper Arlen. It seems Mirri the druid received a confusing message from the party's patron, Lady Alessa. According to Alessa, an agent she had arranged to aid the party had disappeared after leaving a cryptic message about her father's death, a priest and Upper Arlen.
On the journey south the party approached the village of Wood Loam and discovered a mystery involving the appearance of two robed figures and the murder of several local farmers.
The trail of the murder led the party to an excavation site where they battled a group of robed cultists (and MURDERED one innocent poor slob enslaved by the cult). Amid the dirt and debris from the dig, the party noticed large slabs of chiseled rock raised from the hole by the slaves forced into back breaking labor by the cult.
Dispatching the cultists in the work camp (and MURDERING one poor innocent slob enslaved by said cultists), the party jumped onto the lift, intending to descend into the hole to take on the rest of the bad guys.
Unfortunately, on the trip down, a gaggle... flock... covey... whatever...of stirges attacked the party. Trying to raise the platform back to the work camp turned out to be quite a chore as the lift shook violently from the stirges' sucky-kissy face attacks.
Finally killing off the last of the stirges and regaining the safety of terra firma, the party decided to lick its wounds and fight another day. Burning the wooden lift and scaffolding, the party collapsed the works into the hole, pissing off the cultists stranded at the bottom of the hole.
Encounters 2 out of 10 (with one weak ass skill challenge thrown in for good measure)

Anyone else smell smoke?
After dispatching the dancing zombies, the party crept into the tower's basement to find a skeletal ranger desparately trying to put out the magical flames engulfing his body. Defeating the skeleton, the party looted a treasure map from its body. Determining from the map that you were in the right place, the party moved higher into tower in search of the dwarf.
And found her strapped on a rack being tortured by an undead mage and its evil henchmen. During the fight, the party heard commotion behind a heavy door. Following the battle and after freeing the dwarf, the party decided to barricade themselves into the room for a short rest. Sadly, rest was the last thing the party received. Suddenly the druid jumped up from her seat and began shouting incoherently in the voice of the old woman of the woods. Unnerved by finding herself in a strange place, the old woman in a druid's body scampered over the barricade and promptly fell down the stairs, knocking herself and the druid unconscious. Eventually the druid came to and remembered nothing of the incident.
Behind the heavy door, the party encountered a lich flummoxed by a tile puzzle set into the back wall of a small chamber. Using clues on the back of the map, the party solved the puzzle and uncovered the tower's hidden treasure.
The session ended with the party preparing to head back into the wilds of the Black Barrow Mountains.
